Costumes/Hair/Makeup
Basic needs for all dancers Each choreographer will have specific requirements for her piece regarding hair, costumes, etc. This information will be released with plenty of time to purchase any necessary items. Please do not make any new purchases for this production until you receive the instructions from NMBC. Unlike Nutcracker, your basic needs will be minimal. Besides makeup, the only basic costume need that is certain at this time, is a nude camisole leotard for girls without plastic straps. Cover ups-always come dressed to rehearsals and the theater. Remember warm clothes for the theater in case it is cold. A bag to carry all of your items. Own makeup and hair products (see list)-label everything. Emergency phone numbers in their bag. Good Listening skills.
What to leave at home Any makeup not on the list-including sparkles. Sticky food, candy, gum. Walkman, iPod, Gameboy, headphones No liquid make up remover The makeup needs of your dancer are listed below. If you have purchased these items for a previous performance, chances are they are still in good condition and can be used. Please dispose of any makeup that looks discolored. For moist makeup (liquid eyeliner, mascara, lipstick) please dispose of if you have not used it in the last six months. For foundation or solid cake makeup, please dispose of if it is more than two years old. If your dancer does not have one, please get a sturdy case for your dancer to store their makeup in and label all items. Everyone has the same makeup! Makeup should never be shared; this is how infections are spread. Never share brushes or combs. Always send your dancers’ makeup and hair items with them even if they are applied at home-we may need to help them with touch ups. Double check all their supplies and make sure they have more than enough. Do not expect your dancer to be able to borrow what she/he needs. All items listed can be found at Walgreen’s, Wal-Mart, Target or most grocery stores. The first item under each category is the recommended purchase, the others are alternatives. NO sparkles, shiny or glossy makeup.
The makeup companies change the names of some of their items in the fall. Please be aware that if there is a name change, we will post the new information as soon as it is available.

PUNCTUALITY -Advanced dancers are required to arrive at least 30 minutes before rehearsal unless prior approval has been given by the Director. This time should be used to warm up prior to rehearsal. -Dancers under 13 are required to arrive at least 15 minutes before rehearsal unless prior approval has been given by the Director. This time should be used to warm up prior to rehearsal. -If dancers are late, they will be counted as tardy unless prior approval is granted by the Director or there is an emergency. Upon the 2nd tardy, the dancer may be replaced by an understudy for that rehearsal. -A message on the company’s answering machine (292-4245) is only acceptable in the case of sudden illness or emergency. -All dancers must be ready to work at the start or rehearsal time. (Warmed up, hair done, shoes on, cell phones off, etc.) -If the dancer is not ready at the start or rehearsal, they will be counted as tardy. -A third tardy will be counted as an absence. -Any tardies after the 3rd may result in that particular role being relinquished.
